Bradley Cooper Banned Lady Gaga From Wearing Makeup While Filming A Star Is Born

The pair explained all during an interview with Graham Norton.

Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper were doing the rounds in London last weekend for the premier of probably the most highly anticipated film of the year, A Star Is Born. The two stopped off to visit Graham Norton’s red couch on Friday night where they revealed some goss from behind the scenes of their latest film.

During their chat with Graham, Lady Gaga revealed that for her role as Ally, Bradley wanted her to wear no makeup at all.

Bradley directed the film and also stars alongside Gaga in the film as musician Jackson Maine. He revealed the makeup ban was just “how the character is”. Lady Gaga admitted that she initially struggled with this, and even tried to sneak makeup on set.

However, Bradley was determined to make her look unrecognisable in the role, as an undiscovered singer, even having her dye her hair back to it’s natural brown shade for the part.

Lady Gaga even revealed to the Los Angeles Times that when she came to film her screen test, Bradley asked her to wipe away all her makeup, so that she could be “completely open”.

Although we feel a little uncomfortable about Bradley telling Gaga to remove her makeup, she said: “It put me in the right place I needed to be, because when my character talks about how ugly she feels – that was real. I’m so insecure. I like to preach, but I don’t always practice what I preach.”

We think she looks fab.
