Just when we thought it was safe to hang up our winter woolies, Ireland has done us a solid once again.

While we’ve been enjoying some seriously balmy spring weather for the last week or so, temperatures are set to plummet again this week. And if that wasn’t bad enough, it’s going to rain. A lot.

Met Éireann’s weekly forecast predicts “cold and unsettled” weather for the rest of the week and the weekend ahead, with today’s relatively calm temperatures being the best of what’s set to be a pretty grim week.

Prolonged rain, isolated showers and even hailstones are all on the agenda, so don’t even think about leaving the house without a scarf, coat and umbrella.

Weather forecaster John Eagleton confirmed the news to the Irish Independent today, adding that us poor sods can expect rain for “most of the week.”
