Have you spent the weekend binge-watching Emily in Paris season four part two?

Well so have we. And we still aren’t over all the drama! Honestly, we couldn’t be more delighted by the fact season five has just been renewed! Phew!

And we have a lot of questions! Thankfully Camille Razat and Lucas Bravo who play Camille and Gabriel, Emily’s best friend and on-and-off again love interest, were able to help a girl out and give us some answers.

Especially when it came to that twist. Honestly, we’re not over it!

Bonjour! We have to ask first off, that twist! What was it like when you read the script and found out Camille wasn’t pregnant?

Camille: I was honestly shocked! I was like “What the?!” As an actress, it’s good material to play with but as the audience and as a spectator, myself, I was reading it thinking “This is crazy”. But I was also very much relieved because I told Darren [Star, the creator] I didn’t want to wear a big bump all season because I wanted to wear the amazing outfits. So I was relieved to be honest!

The love triangle is the biggest part of the show! Is it fun to act that out? Although it’s got a lot more points than a triangle now…

Camille: It’s a rectangle!

Lucas: It’s an orgy now! It is nice. Just don’t bring your insecurity to the party. You don’t know where it’s going, you don’t know whose going where, getting what. At least it’s dynamic.

Your castmate Bruno Gouery told us that he gets stopped all the time by fans. Is this something the two of you experience?

Lucas: Not as much as Bruno. He is the one who gets the most recognition. It’s crazy.

Camille: People are crazy about Bruno, he is such a genuine and fun character. In life he is the same, he is very funny and nice.

We were worried people would shout at you for what your characters are up to on screen!

Camille: [Laughs] Not yet! But let’s wait for part two and we’ll tell you!

Lucas, who do you think your character Gabriel should end up with?

Lucas: Let’s say Emily. If he wants Emily let’s give him Emily! If she wants him, let’s give her Gabriel! We won’t know until the last minute of the last episode of the last season.

Camille: In 20 years!

Lucas: Yes but I won’t be there! [Laughs] You will have Dr Drake Ramoray’s twin with my brain in him.

It’s safe to say the summer of 2024 has been the summer of Paris. We’ve had the Olympics, the Paralympics and season four of Emily in Paris. Are you proud to see your city be showcased across the globe?

Camille: I think it’s nice that people all around the world got to travel to France in a way that is very romantic and poetic. Even if we know it’s not realistic. But in some ways it is!

Lucas: They did the work, they did all this construction and everything was ready for when the Olympics started. There has been a lot of changes in the city. I was really proud of all of that. The volleyball under the Eiffel Tower and the fencing in the Grand Palais. They were the things that made me proud because we are always the grumpy people. But at the end of the day, if you only travel to certain areas of the city, the Museum Districts, you’re like, “comme-çi, comme-ça, baguette, croissant,” French people are going to be like, “ugh, what do you want?”

It’s a joint effort. If you venture outside of the Monument Department, you will meet incredible people. I think the Olympics showed that. Then you had Part One of the show, then the Paralympics and now Part Two, so it was a lot of France. But it is a great time to be in Paris. We are one of the last countries who have been able to push away fascism. We are the sea of revolution, the country of philosophy, cinema. You have to be proud of it, you have to be proud of what we built over the years. It is a great time to be in Paris and I am proud we are able to celebrate it outside of the clichés that you get from lazy tourists.
