Lizzo won the award for best reality competition series on Monday night at the Emmys, for her Amazon Prime Video Watch Out For The Big Grrrls.

The series, which follows the About Damn Time singer as she casts plus-size dancers for her upcoming tour, succeeds the series Ru Paul’s Drag Race in its win. Drag Race has won the award for the last four consecutive years.

Speaking on her Emmy win, the star said, “This is for the big girls!”. The Grammy award winner reminisced on wishing she could see someone like her represented in the media in her youth, adding that “If I could go back and tell little Lizzo something, I’d be like, ‘You’re going to see that person, but b***h, it’s going to have to be you.”

The singer has been an advocate for body positivity over the years, and her Emmy win comes on the back of a busy year, which included the release of her fourth studio album Special, which is packed with mood-boosting bangers and positive messages.

Lizzo continued:

“The trophy is nice, but my emotion is for these people who are on the stage with me. The stories that they shared, they’re not that unique. They just don’t get told. Let’s just tell more stories.”
