Maura Higgins Has Her Say On Those Alexander Demetriou Rumours As He Splits From His Wife

Once again, our Longford Queen Maura Higgins has refuted claims that there’s any sort of romantic relationship between herself and her former Dancing on Ice partner Alexander Demetriou following his official separation from his wife.

Rumours began back in January (remember when we thought January was going to be the grimmest month of the year? Little did we know!) that Maura and Alexander were getting a little too cosy. This started circulating after Alex was photographed leaving Maura’s home, shortly before announcing he and his wife Carlotta Edwards (also a Dancing on Ice pro) were ‘taking a break from their relationship’.

At the time, Maura insisted that the pair were just friends, and has taken to her Instagram again to dispute any gossip, after Alex confirmed that his marriage to Carlotta was over. According to Grazia, when a fan asked Maura during a Q&A, “What do you think about the stories the press have said about you and Alex?”, Maura replied, “Again, it doesn’t bother me. We’re in 2020 and a man and a woman still cannot just be friends. Pure shite, you know?”

Taking to his own social media accounts, Alex released an official statement about his split with Carlotta, saying, ‘Carlotta and I have separated. Although it saddens me that we can no longer be together, I feel this is best for both of us.’
