The Traitors’ Joanna: ‘It’s Very Difficult Watching From Home’

"We're real people"

Joanna Masiarek was able to fly under the radar until the final week of The Traitors.

She was playing the game as a Faithful but unfortunately she came under fire from the rest of the group after they believed she was trying to play Vanessa and Faye against one another.

After misconstrued stories and whispers made it around the castle, Joanna was unfortunately banished from Slane Castle on Sunday night.

STELLAR Magazine caught up with her after her banishment and she’s setting the record straight about any bad blood between her and the girls.

“It’s very difficult watching it from home; it happened, and it’s all done now,” she admits about her final moments in the castle.

“It’s all good now. I have no grudges. It’s very real in the moment when you’re there. Hearing something that you’re not expecting because it’s so against who you are hurts. But they are all lovely people who are remaining in there. Everybody there is lovely.”

She is quick to add there is no grudges between her and the remaining girls – Faye, Oyin, Vanessa and Kelley.

“It’s very real when you’re there at the time. I would like everyone to remember that it’s a TV show and we’re real people with real feelings,” she says.

“I am absolutely devastated seeing all the comments online today. I didn’t think something that I said in the moment would have such an impact.”

Tensions certainly ran high on Sunday night and she was left in tears as she bid farewell to the rest of the contestants. She admitted that she never planned to cry but in that moment it all overwhelmed her.

Speaking to us, she says: “I am a very grounded person, I am very black and white, I know who I am. I did not expect to get emotional. In the moment, I felt like my character was being attacked.

“The one thing I do in life since I came out, to myself and to the world, and living as a queer woman who is true to myself, I said I would never lie. I always say to my two girls, never lie because it will catch you. When that was being used against me that was it and that’s why all the emotions came out.”
