Don’t Freak Out But One Direction Could Be Getting Back Together For This *Very* Special Reason

We've got Simon Cowell to thank.

On Thursday, Simon Cowell set plans in motion to have a charity single recorded for the victims of the Grenfell Tower fire in London, and it seems that the One Direction boys are set to take part.

The X Factor judge and music mogul tweeted, “We hope to confirm a record tomorrow which will raise some money for the many people affected by this tragedy. Making calls tonight.”

And since then, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson have been confirmed to sing on the cover of Bridge Over Troubled Water by Simon and Garfunkel.

It’s also been reported by The Sun that Harry Styles and Niall Horan are currently trying to free up their schedules so that they can take part too.

This will be the first time the four bandmates record a song together since announcing their hiatus in 2016, and while there’s been no mention yet about whether or not Zayn will take part, there’s still time for him to get involved.  But four out of five ain’t bad, right?

Other performers who’ve confirmed their involvement in the charity single are The Who, Craig David, James Arthur, Emeli Sande, Rita Ora, Robbie Williams, Leona Lewis, Lily Allen, and James Blunt.
