Dumped Islander Reuben Says He Will Meet Up With Lola On The Outside

Grace and Reuben have been dumped from the Love Island villa – sad.

How does it feel to be leaving the Love Island Villa?

Bittersweet, I’m gonna miss everyone but I’m really excited to get back to the world and continue my journey with Grace.

Talk us through your initial connection with Uma? 

Going on a first date with Uma, Mimii and Jessy was great, they’re all great girls and stunning. Uma stood out for me, I liked her energy and vibes, the way she carries herself. Even on the date I could see she was giving a bit back and there was a spark!

Josh and I made sure to have a big entrance, we wanted to bring the vibes up! When Uma chose to leave with Wil, I wasn’t expecting that much of a reaction! I wanted to be sure either way she was getting treated well, either by me, or by Wil treating her better than he did in there.

Tell us about your connection with Grace. Was there an initial attraction straight away? 

Grace and I had our first chat at the Fire Pit I knew that was it, I was locked in! From then on out it was pure graft, graft, graft. She was very guarded at first, which I understood because of her couples before but I knew I could get the best out of her, because we had a lot in common.

It was just a matter of breaking down her walls, I was taking them  down brick by brick! She was always giving me little things back. I’m a big character, I’m like marmite either you love it or I’m a bit too much for you  – Grace  was sticking around, so I knew she liked it.

I had faith in my feelings to her and our connection. I saw the vision from the get go, it was just a matter of her getting to see it as well. It has been a slow burner but we’ve gone from strength to strength. She has so many qualities of what I look for in a woman.

How did you feel when new bombshell Lola picked you in the recoupling? Was there a spark there? 

We did have good chats, we both found each other attractive and had similar ages and backgrounds so naturally we had a good initial spark. The only difficult thing for me was once I have my eyes set on someone, that’s it.

Out of respect, I wanted to make her feel comfortable and welcome, plus give her the chance to see if there was a connection there but after a few days we agreed it was more of a friendship. Lola is lovely, I know for a fact that I’m gonna meet up with her on the outside.

Coming in with Josh,  you two formed a bit of a bromance. How was that? 

Josh is my boy! Boys for life, man. To start my journey here with him was an absolute pleasure. When I first arrived and saw I was going in with him my face lit up. We are from similar backgrounds, we have a lot in common and we just hit it from the off!

We had each other’s backs throughout. I said to him when I left, ‘now you’ve gotta finish the race!’ Honestly, I wish him and Mimii all the best.

What did you think of the public’s vote for you and Grace as the couple least likely to work on the outside? 

In terms of the public opinion, I had a suspicion they might feel that way because we’re a new couple and also because of the distance. I personally disagree with it. We were around each other 24/7 in there! I personally think it’s a credit to our connection in an environment where everything is sped up, we have done it at our own pace.

For me, I think that’s going to be most sustainable in the long run as we’ve set up good foundations for a relationship. When we found out we were leaving, I wasn’t sad, I knew I lived every day to the max and there are a lot of stronger couples in there. We know how strong our connection is and the track we’re on. It was all round a great experience and the fact I got to leave the Villa with an all around angel that I’m very much into and likes me back, I can’t ask for more.

Who do you think has the best connections in the Villa and who would you back to win?

I think it’s pretty obvious Ciaran and Nicole have the best connection, they are made for each other! They are literally soul mates. But for me, obviously I have to back my bro Josh and back him and Mimii. I started my journey with him and I really want him to finish it by taking the win.

How would you summarise your Love Island experience? 

Positive vibes and energy, always!

How does it feel to be leaving the Love Island Villa?

I feel good about leaving the Villa, it’s been a rocky road but I’m pleased with how I handled everything as gracefully as I possibly could, it’s been an incredible experience and I’ve loved every second of it. I’m leaving with what I came in for with Reuben and to make it to the final week with all of the other Islanders is amazing.

Tell us about your connections in the Villa, first being coupled up with Joey, then with Konnor, Blade, Harry and finally  Reuben?

I went in and coupled up with Joey which was a past relationship that I’d had ,I never knew which way it was going to go between us. As soon as I entered  the Villa it was apparent that there were still feelings there. I think I was only in a couple with Joey for a week before I was coupled up with Konnor which was a friendship thing from the offset.

When I went off to Casa I explored connections there and brought Blade back to the main Villa which was great, there was definitely attraction there but it just wasn’t meant to be.

I was then single for a while until Reuben came in, but was stolen by Harry. It’s been quite the journey being in six couples but I gave it my best shot and left with the best guy. Reuben is stunning and has the best personality, he’s exactly what I’ve been looking for.

Talk to us about what’s next for you and Reuben?

We are going to take every day as it comes but I’m going to go down to Surrey and he’s also planning to visit me in Manchester. I can’t wait for us to have date night and meet the rest of each other’s families. We are in a really good place and love being around each other so I’m excited to see where things go for us.

Who did you form the closest friendships with in the Villa?

I’ve been so lucky to be in the Villa with the most incredible group of girls. At some points there would be the odd bicker but we were like sisters. I love them all but Harriett, Jess S, Matilda and Emma were my closest friends there.

Jessy was also my right hand woman which was crazy, she was always by my side and I adored her. I think that’s why Joey had a problem with me as he couldn’t get his head around the fact that I was best friends with his girl.

Who do you think has the best connections in the Villa and who would you back to win?

Ayo and Jess or Matilda and Sean.

How would you summarise your Love Island experience? 

The best experience of my life, it’s impossible to put it into words.
