Electric Picnic has confirmed that the 2020 festival will not take place this year.
Announcing the cancellation of the three-day festival at Stradbally, Co Laois with a heavy heart, the festival promoters noted that it’s the right thing to do as they have a responsibility to ensure that their fans, artists, crew and everyone else involved in the festival are kept safe during these uncertain times.
“Cancelling our festival has become unavoidable, and we fully support the Irish Government’s ongoing measures to help fight the spread of Covid-19 and protect lives at this time,” the statement reads.
The 2020 festival was meant to take place from Friday, September 4th to Sunday, September 6th, with headliners like Snow Patrol, Lewis Capaldi and Picture This confirmed to play over the weekend.
The festival also confirmed that anyone who bought a ticket can either apply for a refund or carry over their ticket to next year’s festival.
Although heartbreaking, we know one thing for sure, summer 2021 is going to be our year of festivals, folks! Bring it on.
