Benoit Blanc is back!

via Netflix

Murder mystery fans rejoice as our favourite private investigator Benoit Blanc is set to make his return in 2025. Director Rian Johnson announced the third instalment of the Knives Out Mystery franchise titled Wake Up Dead Man on social media platform X last month – and it’s safe to say we cannot wait.

Johnson released a teaser video with the cryptic lines “In the beginning, the knives came out. Then, behold, the glass was shattered. But my most dangerous case yet is about to be revealed,” being spoken by the renowned Mr. Blanc.

In case you have been living under a glass onion and haven’t yet stumbled across the whisperings of the newest addition, here is all the information we have so far.

Do we know the cast?

Rumours of the cast for the new instalment have been circulating online. It looks like former Sherlock actor Andrew Scott is ready to enter the world of murder Mystery once again, with Variety confirming the role of the Irish born Actor. Known for his role as the hot priest in Fleabag and Moriarty in BBC’s Sherlock, we can’t wait to see him back on our screens.

Cailee Spaeny is also set to join the star-studded cast. Spaeny wowed viewers in her role as Priscilla in the 2023 film of the same name, which follows the romantic relationship between Elvis Presley (Jacob Elordi) and a young Priscilla.

Challengers’ Josh O’Connor, golden globe winner Glenn Close, and Scandal’s Kerry Washington are also set to join Daniel Craig as he reprises his role as the extraordinary private investigator.

Having accumulated many big stars in the past, Kate Hudson, Hugh Grant, Edward Norton, and Christopher Plummer, it goes without saying we had high hopes for this new cast, and it doesn’t disappoint.

So, what is the plot?

With a famous novelist killed in his own home and a group of rich friends harbouring a big secret, we are curious to see what Johnson has up his sleeve for this next mystery.

Unfortunately, the plot of Wake Up Dead Man is yet to be revealed, however, Johnson posted a tweet that gives us some hint as to what to expect from the upcoming film. “I love everything about whodunnits, but one of the things I love most is how malleable the genre is.

“There’s a whole tonal spectrum from Carr to Christie and getting to explore that range is one of the most exciting things about making Benoit Blanc movies.”

With the first Knives Out set in a prestigious Massachusetts Mansion and the sequel Glass Onion set on an idyllic Greek Island there are many rumours splashing around about the setting for the third film.

We still don’t know the characters who are set to bring the film to life, but we are expecting plenty of eccentric and peculiar personalities to keep us entertained.

Will we see another Netflix Debut or a theatrical release?

Glass Onion spent only one week in a limited number of Cinema’s following its release on November 23, 2022. It began streaming on Netflix that December. It remains unclear if this newest addition will follow in the same footsteps.

Are we going to get a trailer anytime soon?

Filming has not yet begun on Wake Up Dead Man however with Benoit making his much-anticipated return in 2025, we shouldn’t have too long to wait.
