EYNTK About The 10 Things I Hate About You Sequels
Yes, they're happening
If you’re a fan of this classic 1999 rom com, starring Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles, then you’re in for a treat!
In a recent interview with People, 10 Things I Hate About You director, Gil Junger, announced plans for a follow-up trilogy, working alongside original producer Andrew Lazar. We just can’t wait!
The first film of the trilogy is set to be titled 10 Things I Hate About Dating and is already in the process of being co-written by Junger and Naya Elle James. Junger teased in an interview that “10 Things I Hate About Dating is definitively in the works as a feature film. We’re developing it right now”.
The further two films in the trilogy are set to be titled, 10 Things I Hate About Marriage followed by 10 Things I Hate About Kids.

Junger explained that he hasn’t thought a lot about casting, but would “love” to work with Stiles and her character, Kat Stratford. Junger went on to explain that Kat, “really spoke to young women in a very powerful way,”.
Another possible return for an original cast member is Larry Miller, who played Kat’s father.
“If it resonates with [the original cast] and I can have some cameos or even real parts, I’d love [that],” admitted Junger.
The original 10 Things I Hate About You film introduces us to a new high school boy, Cameron, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who falls madly in love on his first day with Bianca, portrayed by Larisa Oleynik.
Unfortunately for Cameron, he can’t ask Bianca out until her rebellious older sister, Kat, gets a boyfriend. This leads to a meeting with mysterious bad-boy Patrick Verona, played by Ledger.
Junger agreed that “it’s a beautiful idea” to use the films to in part honour Ledger’s life. Ledger died at the age of 28 in 2008. “He deserves to be loved,” said Junger.
We hope you’re just as excited as we are!
