Festival Organisers Say It’s ‘Wishful Thinking’ That Glastonbury Will Return Before 2022
Will we see any festivals return in 2021? It looks like it's still too early to call.

Although we have our fingers and toes and all else crossed for festival season to return next summer, doubt is already filling the air surrounding it’s possibility.
With hundreds of thousands of people taking to packed arenas, crowded bars and tents during the stint of a festival, organisers are already worried that next year might still be too soon for packed out places.
Noting that 250,000 people are expected to flock to Glastonbury next year, co-creator of the festival, Michael Eavis is concerned it might just be too many.
“500 people is OK isn’t it. But my job, 250,000 altogether is too many people I suppose isn’t it really.

“I’m still hoping I’m going to be running next year and I’m going to be moving heaven and earth to make sure that we do. But that doesn’t mean it will necessarily happen. That is just wishful thinking really,” he told ITV News West Country.
And so, although it’s heartbreaking to hear we could go another year without festivals, Michael is determined that no matter how long he has to wait, Glastonbury will survive the financial impact.
Explaining that no matter what, he’ll bring the festival back, Michael continued that it’s just a matter of getting the green light to drive it forward.

‘The only certainty I think is the year after, 2022. To be perfectly candid, so we might have to wait for two years maybe.
“But I am still hoping and we are fighting and working at it all the time to make sure it happens next year,” Michael concluded.
Will Irish festivals also follow suit? Who knows. But we’ve praying that all will make a return and we’ll be safely dancing in a field with our bag of cans before we know it.
