Five Of Our Fav Face SPFs To Protect Your Skin This Summer

It’s mid June and the weather is hotter than ever – offices everywhere have flung their windows open, the beaches are jam-packed every weekend, and our sunnies have once again become a firm accessory. Though we know it’s an essential all year round, SPF has never been more vital. Not only does it keep our skin looking smooth, even and youthful, it also protects us from harmful rays, and here at STELLAR we’re all about health hacks. We deserve to be our happiest, healthiest selves! (And we won’t say no to looking our best, either).

The tricky thing about finding a good SPF is that there are so many on the market, and they have to tick all the boxes; non greasy, non drying, high protection, no white cast…we hear you! Neostrata Sheer Physical Protection Sunscreen 

This mineral SPF is gorgeous for a few reasons – it has a light tint and a mattifying effect, but ultra-sheer coverage, meaning it’s ideal for everyday wear. Factor 50 ensures your skin will be safe from the sun, and you can wear it all day long at work and have no oiliness or stickiness.  It’s also formulated with antioxidants to help strengthen your skin’s moisture barrier, so after a long day your face will still feel soft and supple instead of grimy or dried out. This has become our new holy grail; it can even be applied over make-up by just patting it in! Be warned though – the consistency is super watery, so you need to give it a good shake before each use. The Ordinary Mineral UV Filters

 

The Ordinary is great for a gal on a budget, and this SPF packs a serious punch for just €10.60. Ideal for anyone whose looking for a suncream in the SPF 15/30 range, this formula is extremely lightweight and non-comedogenic, so it won’t clog your pores! It’s super hydrating and has anti-irritant ingredients, so those with sensitive skin should be safe. With this product, we love to mix a drop our two of our foundation in, then apply it liberally all over the face so it works like a tinted moisturiser/SPF hybrid. Easy peasy!

LaRoche Posay Anthelios UVMune 400

The LaRoche Posay SPF is a cult classic for a reason – this stuff does it’s job. It’s ultra long lasting so you don’t have to worry about constant reapplication, and it’s sweat, water and sand resistant too. It refuses to budge and will survive any beach day! Though it’s super high protection, the formula is very mild and designed for sensitive faces, making it nice and gentle for anyone with problematic skin. Non-greasy and non perfumed, there’s no nasties in here – it’s a lightweight and minimalist all rounder. We’re obsessed.

Glossier Invisible Shield

Glossier describe their Invisible Shield SPF as the “sunscreen for people who hate wearing sunscreen”, which we love. It’s designed to feel like you’re not wearing anything at all, and we find that it just melts into the skin and we can totally forget it’s on our face! The water-gel serum has a lovely consistency that will work well with or without makeup, no need to worry about pilling. This sunscreen will protect from harmful UV rays and neutralise any harm free radicals, so your skin still gets to take in all the good stuff. If that’s not good enough, it’s vegan and cruelty-free, too!

Avene Very High Protection Sun Cream

 

This baby is for the ladies who take their skin protection seriously. Factor 50 and hellbent on not letting any UV rays through, this sun cream also protects against blue light. It has a soft, velvety texture that will keep your skin hydrated and soothed for up to eight hours. With powerful antioxidants, this works to not only protect your skin but to treat it too, so it will feel soft and nourished with regular wear. It’s got a non sticky and invisible feel once it’s absorbed, so it ticks all our boxes!
