Ever since Daisy Edgar-Jones’ meteoric rise to fame after the success of Normal People last year, everyone has been curious to see what she’ll do next.
It was revealed last year that the Delia Owens best-selling novel, Where The Crawdad’s Sing was being adapted for the screen and in October Daisy was announced as the lead, Olivia Newman directing, and Reese Witherspoon producing through her production company Hello Sunshine.
Now, as the film has started filming, those behind the scenes have begun sharing some snaps of the highly anticipated movie, including some of Daisy in her new role.

Author, Delia Owens, posted some pictures from the set, and Daisy looks stunning transformed into the role of Kya. She captioned the snap; “On the Crawdads movie set with Daisy Edgar Jones (who plays Kya) and Livi Newman (director)!!! So exciting!”
For those who don’t know the storyline, without giving away too much, Where The Crawdads Sing follows the story of Kya, a young woman who is abandoned and left to raise herself alone, at the edge of a small town. But when the town’s golden boy Chase Andrews is murdered, Kya becomes the main suspect.
It’s a gorgeous, and at times, heartbreaking story that covers everything from love, to loss, to loneliness, as well as the resilience and comfort that can be found in nature. It’s no surprise it remained on The New York Times Fiction Best Sellers of 2020 for a combined 32 non-consecutive weeks.

As of yet, there is no release date for the movie, but the fact they’ve begun filming has us hopeful we could see this in cinemas (and perhaps watch in a cinema!) by the end of 2021.
In the meantime we’ll be scouring Instagram for some more behind the scenes snaps!
