Here’s Everything Team STELLAR Is Loving This Week

Back at it

Happy New Year!

We’ve all had different kinds of Christmas holidays, from busy ones to chill ones, and now we’re looking forward to the brand new year ahead.

For the first week of 2024, we’re loving all things wholesome; taking a break from drinking as much, watching good films, eating cake and trying something new (or, trying something new again).

Here’s everything team STELLAR is loving this week!

Jade is loving… Poor Things

Yorgos Lanthimos’ black comedy lands in Irish cinemas next week (!) and let me tell you, it is a treat.

Emma Stone deserves an Oscar, Mark Ruffalo is hilarious, Willem Dafoe is doing an accent, and Margaret Qualley also shows up.

It’s excellent, funny, touching, sad, intelligent, and probably the best thing you’re going to see this year.

Reports already suggest that audiences in America are walking out half way through film – so you know it’s got to be good.

Aoife is loving…Duolingo

Okay, I know I say I’m going in on Duolingo every January, and by December I still can’t speak the language.

It’s a me issue –but this year is different, I swear!

I’ve set myself the task of learning Spanish, and it’s just so stupidly fun. I’d forgotten how funny and weird this little app is, and it’s only been a few days but I’m already looking at inanimate objects and my brain is going “el teléfono…mi cama…una botella de agua!”

The app seems to have gotten a revamp recently too, so it’s even more engaging and gamified than before. Excelente!

Jade is loving… Not drinking (a lot)

@danna_mei Mango smoothie recipe💛🥭✨ – 1 large frozen banana – mango (fresh or frozen) – ice cubes – orange juice – milk (i use almond milk) – 1 tsp turmeric Enjoy!😋✨ #healthy #healthylifestyle #smoothie#smoothieideas#mangosmoothie ♬ People (Sped Up) – Libianca & sped up + slowed

Not not drinking entirely, but not drinking a lot.

The festive szn was intense. It was fun. It was drinking every night and day and generally feeling like crap at the end of it.

I’m not doing Dry January (cba), but I am doing Regular Amount of Alcohol January, in which I reduce the amount of units I consume to a normal amount and don’t wake up every morning feeling like I’ve been run over.

It’s nice. And I’m getting more fruit in.

Aoife is loving…Having your cake and eating it too

If you don’t know what to do this weekend, go to your local bakery and buy a delicious cake. Then eat it.

I’m serious!

I’ve gotten into a habit of doing this when the world feels wrong; and it’s an incredible cure. You don’t need a celebration to buy an entire cake – just existing is enough!

Carrot cake is my favourite, so I’ll usually nab one of those and then bring it home to enjoy over a few days with tea and good telly.

If my housemates are lucky and arrive home just after I’ve bought it, we’ll share it and watch a film. Life is good.
