Let’s face it, we’ve all at one point found ourselves in a relationship that we’re just not sure is going anywhere. Instead of saving yourself the time and energy of letting the relationship sink, you try desperately to keep it afloat, only harming yourself and the other person more in the long run.
Well, not Miley Cyrus. Never one to shy away from being open and honest about her relationships, on the Call Her Daddy podcast, the singer opened up about the test she uses to see if a relationship is healthy or not. Going on to say that she swears by the test as it helps her to decide not only if the relationship she’s currently in is working on not, but what she does and doesn’t want from future partners too, she explained exactly how it works:
“Make a list of what you were gaining and what you were losing (in the relationship). What they were contributing to your life, and what they were subtracting,”
“Value each of these things by one through to ten. Then add it. If they did add more to your life, then you know what you expect for your next relationship. If they were subtracting, you know what you will not accept ever again.”
Miley also went on to speak about her past relationships, all of which played out heavily in the media. She says that for her the way in which she and her relationships were portrayed was far from reality.
“I feel like, as a woman, I was villainised for moving on and I really feel like that isn’t acceptable,” she said.
“(The press) made me seem disloyal, which is so against my f***ing character… And my character is everything that is my foundation.”
Miley most recently broke up with boyfriend of 10 months Cody Simpson, who she has been friends with for 10 years, and assured fans that they will continue to remain so.
“We are just deciding who we wanna be in our lives, what we wanna do, and so, don’t make it some drama story if next week we’re hanging out, getting pizza,” she told her followers at the time of their break up.
“We’ve been friends for 10 years and we’re going to continue to be friends, so just don’t make it something that it is not.”
