Here’s The Lovely Moment A Fan Handed Reese Witherspoon Her Dissertation About Legally Blonde
IT WAS SCENTED!
It’s safe to say that Legally Blonde is an extremely important film for an entire generation of women.
Before we even knew what feminism was, it taught us all sorts of things about sticking up for ourselves and for each other. Really, it’s very special.
And no one knows this more than journalist Lucy Jayne Ford, who four years ago wrote 15,000 words on the film for her college dissertation.
4 years ago I wrote my university dissertation on Legally Blonde, and I'm about to give it to @RWitherspoon herself. I may cry pic.twitter.com/AKKtH4BSw6

Now, Lucy works for Heat magazine, and earlier this week got to interview Reese Witherspoon, Oprah and Mindy Kaling ahead of the release of their new film A Wrinkle In Time.
It’s not every day you get to meet the subject of your dissertation, so of course Lucy decided to bring in a copy to give to Reese. Her reaction was LOVELY, as were Oprah and Mindy’s:
The moment I handed @RWitherspoon my 15,000 dissertation/love letter to Legally Blonde – and yes, it was scented. I blacked out somewhere between her taking it and Oprah saying 'wow' #WrinkleInTime pic.twitter.com/56XV8FElqV

“That really touches my heart,” Reese said. “That is amazing, thank you. It means a lot to me.”
Best of all though, it was scented – something the actress noted with joy.
Reese: I have one question about this. Is it scented?
Lucy: I actually put perfume on it.
Reese: I know you did!
Lucy tweeted that off camera, Oprah flicked through the pages and read the part where she referenced her book. Seriously. Could she ever have imagined when she was writing her dissertation that she would a) one day be in the same room as Oprah and Reese Witherspoon and b) they’d read her words?
Congrats, Lucy! Elle Woods would be proud.
