Here’s Why Teen Mom’s Jenelle Evans Was Fired By MTV
It all comes after her husband shot and killed their dog last month
It’s been a rollercoaster of a week for Teen Mom fans trying to keep up with Jenelle Evans and her husband’s situation after he shot and killed their dog this month. Jenelle has now been fired from the MTV show and if you’re confused about all that went on, we’ve got you covered.
We’ll go right back to basics… Who is Jenelle Evans.
Jenelle appeared on the second cycle of Teen Mom, after being 16 and pregnant, which followed her journey as a mom to Jace . She was quite the party girl, and her own mother Barbara regularly appeared on the show because she had custody of the baby boy. She then welcomed baby number two, Kaiser with ex-boyfriend Nathan Griffith. Then she married a man named Courtland Rogers and they split a year later. Jenelle welcomed baby number 3 with now husband David Eason who she married in 2017. And until now, she continued to appear on Teen Mom.
Ensley is 2, Kaiser is 4, and Jace is 9.
Got it? Good.
What happened with her dog?
Jenelle posted an emotional tribute on Instagram to her dog Nugget on May 1st, saying that she was ‘heartbroken’, and ‘distraught’ following his death.
“Nugget… I’m crying everyday. I love you so much and I’m so sorry. I’m speechless. You were my side kick and knew the moment I felt bad and would cuddle with me. You still had a lot to learn and a lot to grow from your lessons. Everyday I wake up you’re not here, when I come home you’re not here, when I go to bed… you’re not here. You’re gone forever and there’s no coming back.”
Tributes poured in from fellow reality stars and followers consoling the mum of three.
Reports emerged that her husband David Eason shot and killed the dog, because her ex-fiancé (dad to Kaiser) Nathan Griffith reportedly called the police requesting a welfare check on his son, after he’d heard that David had shot the French bulldog.
The couple claim that that the dog nipped at their daughter Ensley, and so David then killed the dog. Some reports claim he badly beat the dog before shooting him.
How did the couple react?
David, who shot and killed his pet, defended his actions, claiming it was to protect his daughter. “I don’t give a damn what animal bites my baby on the face… whether it be your dog or mine, a dog is a dog and I dont put up with that shit at all,” David wrote alongside a video of Nugget and Ensley on Instagram.
“I’m all about protecting my family, it is my lifes mission. Some people are worth killing or dying for and my family means that much to me. You can hate me all you want but this isnt the first time the dog bit Ensley aggressively. The only person that can judge weather or not a animal is a danger to MY CHILD is ME.”
Jenelle initially left the family home with the kids and said that she was furious at her husband.
“I have not gone back to my home yet because he is refusing to leave. I won’t see him and don’t want to talk to him. Thankfully the kids did not see him shoot the dog. They are still with me. I am very much considering pressing charges against him for this.”
In the week or so since it happened though, Jenelle returned to the home with her kids, and said she was focusing on her children and working to repair the marriage.
MTV then fired Jenelle from Teen Mom 2 but David was fired last year…
MTV made the decision to fire Jenelle from the reality show following the incident, which they confirmed in a statement.
“MTV ended its relationship with David Eason over a year ago in February 2018 and has not filmed any new episodes of Teen Mom 2 with him since. Additionally, we have stopped filming with Jenelle Eason as of April 6, 2019 and have no plans to cover her story in the upcoming season,” the channel told Us Weekly.
David was let go from the show last year after he made some nasty homophobic comments on Twitter.
After a conversation on twitter about gun violence, and exposing his children to weapons, he said: “And just what makes you think you have the right to tell me how to be a parent? Because you think you know me? LMAO why don’t you go tell the homo and transgender parents to start teaching their kids better morals? Oh I forgot, that’s supposed to be normal.” Yuck!
“David Eason’s personal comments do not reflect the views of MTV,” they told E! News at the time.
Jenelle was reportedly very surprised to have been fired from the show, “I was a little bit shocked but I saw it coming. It’s shocking still but I respect their decision and have nothing but love for MTV,” she told Us Weekly.
Will David go to jail?
Local authorities have reportedly launched an investigation into the incident and he could face jail time if he is charged and found guilty.
