The pair met on the set of Australian TV show Corelli in 1995. The Greatest Showman star admitted in an interview with 60 Minutes Australia that he knew they shared an instant connection. He later added, that he was reluctant to make a move as he preferred to keep it professional.

Despite working together and their 13-year age gap, Hugh and Deboraa-Lee tied the knot in 1996. They have since had two children and been happily  married ever since.

In their interview with 60 Minutes Australia, Hugh said “Right from the beginning we were great friends”.

While walking the streets of New York on Saturday, Hugh was approached by paparazzi asking questions about the split announcement. According to TMZ, the Australian actor conducted himself in the politest way possible.

He said: “I don’t feel quite right talking about it on the street. But I appreciate your thoughts, man. It’s a difficult time.”

It seems that the pair share a mutual unconditional love for each other whether they are together or not. They have expressed a huge appreciation for each other and hope to continue to cherish and honour the life and family they have built together during their separation.

We wish them the very best of luck as they move on to this next chapter in both of their lives.
