Selena Gomez is sick of the ‘beauty myth’, and yep, us too.

The popstar is on her holidays in Australia after breaking up with Justin Bieber (again) and wants everyone to know that she’s more interested in taking care of herself than living up to a standard of beauty:

The beauty myth – an obsession with physical perfection that traps modern women in an endless cycle of hopelessness, self-consciousness, and self-hatred as she tries to fulfil society’s impossible definition of flawless beauty. I chose to take care of myself because I want to, not to prove anything to anyone. Wind in her sails.

The post is believed to be a response to paparazzi shots of her in a bikini that emerged earlier this week, which show the scar on her thigh from her kidney transplant. As all Irish mams would tell you, don’t MIND them Selena.
