It’s been six years since Adele’s last album, and we’re all feeling pretty deprived of her heartfelt ballads. But fans think some new music is coming soon. To make things easy for you, we’ll be breaking down all the fan theories and everything we know so far about a possible new album.

The 30 Billboards


Over the weekend, an array of mysterious billboards appeared that just had the number 30 on them. This prompted a worldwide scavenger hunt with the billboards being found in Dubai, Spain, France, Italy, the US, and even here in Ireland. Adele’s previous albums 19, 21, and 25 were named after her age during their production.

The singer is 33 now but could have started production when she was 30. Fans also noticed she was 30 the year she separated from her ex-husband. Which some believe could be the inspiration for the material on the album and, therefore, the name 30 would be an appropriate name.

Taylor Swift recently announced she is moving the release date for Red Taylor’s Version up a week, from the 19th to the 12th of November. Some fans think Taylor might have changed her released date so her and Adele’s album wouldn’t be in competition.

Canadian radio presenter DJ Mauler tweeted, “New Adele. This week.” The tweet has been deleted, but fans believe DJ Mauler would have been a reliable source due to the nature of his job.

However, the tweet is from last week and still no album. But the billboards were revealed, so some are guessing that DJ Mauler got it mixed-up, and Adele’s team were talking about the billboards coming out last week.

Some think Adele’s team are reaching out to different organisations to build hype for the new album, which would be how DJ Mauler had the information and why Billboard would randomly tweet out Adele’s history on the Billboard 200 chart.

While on the American sketch show Saturday Night Live last year, Adele brought up her new music.

She said, “I know there’s been a lot of chatter about me just being the host. Like ‘Why isn’t she the musical guest?’ and stuff like that. And there’s a couple of reasons. My album’s not finished, and I’m also too scared to do both… I’d rather just put on some wigs… have a glass of wine or six and just see what happens.”

So there is a definitely new album, and while it wasn’t finished last year, she’s had plenty of time to work on it. Meaning it’s not crazy to assume new music might be ready.
