It seems that Matt Damon isn’t quite done with Ireland yet, as in a new interview he opened up about how much he loved spending time here last year and that he would even consider moving to the Emerald Isle.

Chatting on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast the A-lister was asked if he would ever leave the Hollywood Hills and relocate somewhere else.

In response, he said; “Probably in the back of my head. Like I definitely, when we did the lockdown, we started the lockdown in Ireland because we were shooting a movie…It was so f***ing great.”

Continuing the 50-year-old said about his time in Dalkey; “We loved it there so much and I was kind of in the back of my head, ‘I could move here. I could live here.’ It’s beautiful.

“We stayed for three months. Because we got there and we’d rented all of these houses in this town, it was about a fifteen-minute drive to the studio, it was this beautiful little town.

“Well everybody left and so I was there, I kind of looked around and we had a few people in our little group and we were like, ‘well we’ve got all these houses for three months’ so we just moved into these houses and just kind of took it over and had just the best time, the best time.”

Matt was here in 2020 to shoot a new Ridley Scott film, but lockdown was announced almost as soon as he arrived. During that time he was incredibly vocal about how much he loved Ireland.

He was spotted regularly in the area last summer, heading to the bookshop in Dalkey, one of the village’s cute little cafes, as well as carrying his togs down for a dip in a SuperValu bag, you can’t get more Irish than that, can you?
