It Turns Out Kristin Davis Was Actually Asked To Audition For The Role Of Carrie In SATC

We couldn't imagine her as anyone other than thee Charlotte York-Goldenblatt tbh.

Love it or loathe it, Sex and the City is still considered one of the most iconic TV shows to date. And for those who just can’t abide by the show, a lot of it comes down to Carrie. Even as a fan of the show, I can’t help eye-rolling at Carrie most of the time, in a love/hate kind of way.

But I honestly couldn’t imagine anyone by SJP playing the role, and as it turns out, it was actually Kristen Davis, who plays the beloved Charlotte who was asked to audition for the main role in the first place.

It’s also hard to imagine Kristen Davis as anyone other than *the* Charlotte York-Goldenblatt, but here we all are imagining it.

At the time, Sarah Jessica Parker was the first choice for Carrie. But apparently was slightly reluctant to make it a done deal as the show centred on sex and sexuality for the main part. So while SJP was hemming and hawing, the show’s creator Darren Star asked Kristen Davis to audition for the protagonist role.

But plot twist, Kristen felt that the role of Carrie didn’t suit her, and was drawn to Charlotte. Darren then warned Kristen that it wasn’t the main role, as in the original book by Candace Bushnell, Charlotte was a surrounding character.

Kristen wanted to go for it anyway, and the rest is history. I wouldn’t want it any other way, tbh.
