“It’s A Very Lonely Place” Andrea Corr Has Opened Up About Suffering Multiple Miscarriages

"I didn’t know if I’d ever be a mother"

Andrea Corr has opened up about the series of miscarriages she has suffered in the past.

Speaking to Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield on This Morning earlier this week, Andrea bravely spoke about the ‘devastating’ five miscarriages she suffered previously, leading her to believe that she might never have a baby.

“I had five miscarriages. She said. “The first two were the most devastating as I didn’t have Jean and Brett then (her sons) then. And I didn’t know if I’d ever be a mother.”

“Every time, no matter how often it happens, as soon as you discover you’re pregnant, you so quickly go into the mode of hoping and dreaming for this child – and then suddenly it’s all gone.”

Continuing to speak about the loneliness felt when dealing with miscarriages she said:

“It’s a very lonely place to be… nobody knows about what is not visibly there.”

Andrea and her husband Brett Desmond have since welcomed two sons Jean and Brett Jr to the world, who are now seven and five years old.

Speaking about why she decided to include the painful story in her new memoir, she said: “It’s too big a part of my own spiritual evolution to exclude from my memoir.”

Andrea’s raw and telling memoir Barefoot Pilgrimage is available to buy now.
