It’s Time To Enter Magdalena Bay Autumn

It's here, it's you.

Brat summer is over – it’s done, dusted.

We all had a great time doing the Apple dance, smudging our eyeliner, and of course, bumpin’ that. But now, it’s time to move on.

Some have dubbed this new season ‘demure fall.’ Others have tried to resurrect brat from its neon green grave. But here at STELLAR, we’re fairly convinced that it is, in fact, Magdalena Bay autumn.

The alternative pop duo made up of Mica Tenenbaum and Matthew Lewin are having a moment.

Their second album, Imaginal Disk, was released last month, and it’s already making waves – particularly on the internet, where the pair first gained recognition back in 2019.

Magdalena Bay’s music has been described as mythical, paranoid, Y2K-inspired, punchy, critical, and an audio representation of the chrome dolphin meme.

It’s ethereal, upbeat, futuristic, and an undeniably ideal listen when you’re wandering around the city streets with a slight heavy jacket on, shielding your eyes from the autumn sun, generally contemplating modern life.

The band will make you feel nostalgic for a time you probably didn’t experience, existential over a life that’s actually going okay, and optimistic for a future that might already be here.

They even cite Charli xcx as one of their influences. C’mon, what more do you need?

Magdalena Bay’s upcoming Irish show in the Button Factory is unfortunately sold out, but we know we’ll be keeping a close eye on any resale tickets.
