James Kavanagh Pays Tribute To His Friend Martyn Hett Who Died In Manchester’s Terror Attack
He's being honoured by friends and family as a delightful, hilarious, and wonderful icon.
Martyn Hett is one of the 22 people who tragically lost their lives in the Manchester Arena attack on Monday night, and tributes to the 29-year-old have been pouring in since.
James Kavanagh is one such person, saying, “The world has lost one of its most hilarious and iconic people. From the moment we met, I knew I struck gold in the friend department.
James went on to describe Martyn as “razor sharp and witty” and “a total joy,” before concluding, “I’m imagining you glugging wine and eating marrow with Deirdre Barlow somewhere. My love and thoughts are with his family, legions of friends and Russell.”
Martyn was an avid Coronation Street fan and even had a tattoo of Corrie legend, Deirdre Barlow, on his leg.
Martyn worked as a PR Manager, and is being remembered as someone who lived life to the full. Those who knew and loved him are describing him as a delightful, hilarious, and wonderful icon.
Martyn Hett you did not waste a day of your 29 years with us. You will be so sorely missed. An icon 💞

But nobody will miss his bright personality more than his boyfriend, Russell Hayward. Before Martyn’s death was confirmed, Russell tried desperately to find him, starting an online campaign to track him down.
He tweeted, “Soulmate doesn’t even come close. Come back to us Martyn so we can watch last nights Corrie together ?”

It seems that Martyn was exceptionally outgoing and charismatic, and there’s no doubt that he’ll be sorely missed. We hope that he and all of the other victims of Monday night’s attack rest in peace.
