Who doesn’t love baby news? Even if it’s a whole month after the arrival of the new born, we’re still counting it as good news on this Monday morning.

Joaquin Phoenix and his fiancée Rooney Mara have welcomed their first child, a boy, who arrived into the world over a month ago. It’s been reported that the pair have named their child River, after Joagion’s late brother River Phoenix, who sadly passed away in 1993.

Although neither Joaquin or Rooney have spoken publicly on the news, it’s thought that River was born around a month ago.

Director Victor Kossakovsky, who worked with Joaquin as an executive producer of the film Gunda, was asked about Joaquin’s involvement in the film at the 2020 Zurich Film Festival. Victor then revealed the news, saying, “He just got a baby, by the way, his name was… a beautiful son called River, so he cannot promote it now.”

Joaquin and Rooney met on the set of Her back in 2013, they then began dating when they were reunited on the set of Mary Magdalene in 2016 and confirmed their engagement in 2019.

Congratulations to the happy couple!
