STELLAR PROMOTION: Incredible
Josh and Mimii won Love Island last night – incredible scenes.
The pair emerged victorious following a tense finale which saw Ciaran and Nicole leave runners up, Matilda and Sean third, and Ayo and Jessica fourth.
This is the first time ever that a Black couple has won Love Island UK, and the victory hasn’t gone unnoticed by fans.

Love Island has long been criticised for its relationship with Black contestants.
For a show that has a large Black audience (who carry the show on their backs via Twitter, fyi), questions around casting, screen time, and beauty choices tend to be rife.
For a long time, where white contestants where afforded dominant storylines and lucrative brand deals, Black contestants often appeared in the show’s background, leaving viewers wondering if they’re still part of the show at all.
In recent years, this has started to change. Although Love Island is not as popular as it once was, it’s more inclusive than ever.
The show’s renewed focus on people of colour (and those with disabilities) has tackled the tokenism it was once accused of, presenting a series that tells the love stories of everyone.
Mimii was shocked by the win last night. After shouting “No!” and saying that she was overwhelmed, she thanked the public for their support, seemingly unaware of the adoration she had received from viewers all summer long.
But not of the history she and Josh had just made.
