‘Juno’ Star Elliot Page Has Announced That He Is Transgender In An Emotional Statement

"I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life"

Elliot Page, star of iconic teen movie ‘Juno’, and more recently hit Netflix TV show ‘Umbrella Academy’ has revealed that he is transgender.

Formerly addressed as Ellen Page, Elliot announced the news in an emotional statement on Twitter where he shared his pronouns, and his feelings on being trans.

“Hi friends, I want to share with you that I am trans, my pronouns are he/they, and my name is Elliot. I feel lucky to be writing this. To be here. To have arrived at this place in my life. I feel overwhelming gratitude for the incredible people who have supported me along this journey.”

“I love that I am trans. And I love that I am queer. And the more I hold myself close and fully embrace who I am, the more I dream, the more my heart grows and the more I thrive,” he continued.

Elliot also address all other people who may be going through something similar, they added:

“To all the trans people who deal with harassment, self-loathing, abuse, and the threat of violence every day: I see you, I love you, and I will do everything I can to change this world for the better.”

Elliot now uses the pronouns he/they, and describes himself as both transgender and non-binary, meaning that they do not identify as either male or female, but rather a more fluid sense of identity.

The reaction to Elliot’s brave action has been nothing but positive with many celebs rushing to share their well wishes with the actor.

Mark Ruffalo said:

“Congratulations, Elliot, in committing to the full expression of your self and being so open and candid about it. You have made this world a more tolerant and loving place with your commitment, courage, and vulnerability. We are lucky to have public figures like you.”

“Congratulations, king <3 SO happy for you!!!” added James Charles.
