Katy Perry Reveals Why She Stopped Releasing Music

Katy Perry was the Teenage Dream, making us all wish we were California Girls, but now we’re falling from cloud 9, as she hasn’t released any new tracks in a Hot (N’ Cold) minute.

Yep, Katy might have dominated the 2010s with her pop ballads and bright plastic wigs, but the singer hasn’t put out new music since 2021. Excluding the Just Eat bop, of course!

So what’s behind her absence from the music world. Well, turns out Katy wants to focus on her three-year-old daughter, Daisy, and her Las Vegas residency.

As she told Good Morning America: “I haven’t put any new material out since my Darling Daisy, I think that I’m writing a lot and have written a lot from a place of love, because I’m feeling so much of it—so much unconditional love, that love you never knew existed.”

“I’m always writing, I have been, but I think what’s really important to me is to be celebrating the world that I’ve got to build with all of these wonderful songs and to be responsible for a life for a 3-year-old,” she explained.

But not too worry, as the Dark Horse isn’t quitting the industry, but is taking a pause before releasing her next album.

Adding: “I will be back, but let me get this right.”

Katy welcomed her first child, Daisy Dove Bloom, with fiancé Orlando Bloom in 2020.

“We are floating with love and wonder from the safe and healthy arrival of our daughter,” the couple said in a statement.

She began her Las Vegas residency at Resorts World Theatre just a year and a half later, in December 2021. It will be concluding later this year.

The singer has also been a judge on American Idol since 2018.
