Last summer was a busy one for celeb spotting in Ireland. Between the enchanted cast and Matt Damon making his return after lockdown, it looks like we may be playing host to a few more Hollywood stars again this year.

World-famous actor Mark Wahlberg is currently holidaying on the Emerald Isle.

The star was spotted out and about this week attending an event in Dublin. Popping in to take a look at Weir & Son’s 2022 watch exhibition Mark posed alongside some familiar faces, including Westlife’s Nicky Byrne.

Now, Mark has updated his Instagram followers to share that he’s staying in 5* hotel and golf resort Adare Manor as he enjoys some downtime and flexes his skills on the golf course. Uploading a video of himself on Adare’s golf course he said:

“I’m back in the homeland, in Ireland. Adare Manor, the greatest golf course in Europe by far but possibly in the entire world.”

He also added that he couldn’t stop speaking with an Irish twang saying “I’m so mad that I can’t stop doing the Irish accent but I love it.”

Although the accent is a bit more Derry Girls than ROI, we’ll let it slide this time because we’re just happy to see him living his best life.

Mark has a strong connection to Ireland. In the past he has called the country ‘home’ and it has even been uncovered that he has Irish roots. Both Mark’s mother and father have strong Irish connections, as Mark’s grandmother on his mother’s side, Sarah A. Doherty was born in Ireland. The families soon made their way to the US in the 1800s, as did many Irish people at that time, and it was in Boston that Mark was eventually born, but still raised within a very old school catholic family.

How long Mark is in Ireland is not yet known, but we hope he enjoys his stay here however long or short it may be.
