Khloe Kardashian has legally changed her son Tatum’s last name from Kardashian to Thompson.

The 13-month-old son of Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson originally had the reality star last name on his birth certificate, but recently an LA court judge officially granted the name change according to court documents obtained by PEOPLE.

Khloe and Tristan welcomed their son in July 2022 via surrogate. Khloe managed to keep her sons name under wraps until season three of the Kardashians premiered earlier this year.

Everyone watched momager Kris Jenner try and create a nickname for the child to Khloe utmost horror. She said: “Tatum’s good. We could call him Tate. Everybody’s gonna call him Tate.”

Khloe quickly shut down the nickname saying: “No, never gonna happen.”

But it wasn’t just for dramatic effect on the show that she kept her son’s name a secret, Khloe actually spent months trying to figure out what to call him.

Speaking on the Jennifer Hudson show back in April, Khloe said: “I wanted to meet him and feel him out a little bit. At first, he didn’t have a name. Then, he’s been named but I’ve been waiting for the premiere of our show and I didn’t know it was going to be this far out.”

Now that she’s found a name, Khloe is all about just bonding with her son in any way she can.

With True, it took me a couple days to be like, ‘OK, this is my daughter,’ and I was super into it—but just days,” she explained. “But with him, it’s taken me, like, months. I love him and I love kids, but I definitely still don’t have that complete bond. But you know, so many say it takes time.

And it’s safe to say they have bonded as she took to Instagram on his first birthday to say: “I am so proud to be your mommy. So proud of the love and laughter we have in our house. So proud of your beautiful, gentle, loving, infectious spirit. You light up every single room.”
