Kim Kardashian made waves when she lost 16lbs to fit into a vintage Marilyn Monroe dress for the Met Gala, and faced a lot of backlash as some felt it promoted toxic diet culture and harmful body image.

But while she defended her choice in the past, the reality star is now opening up about the negative impact that very strict diet had on her health.

Kim, who has Psoriasis, typically sticks to a majority plant-based diet to help with her condition. But in the weeks leading up to the Met Gala, she consumed real meat again, which caused some serious health issues.

As she told Allure, “psoriasis broke out over my body and I got psoriatic arthritis so I couldn’t really move my hands”

Continuing, “It was really painful, and I had to go to a rheumatologist who put me on a steroid. I was freaking out.”

Luckily her condition improved when she returned to her regular lifestyle.

“I cut out the meat again, and it’s calmed down.” she explained.

At the time many called out the SKIMS founder including Riverdale star Lili Reinhart.

While she didn’t mention Kim by name, the day after the Met Gala, Lili took to social media and wrote, “To walk on a red carpet and do an interview where you say how starving you are… because you haven’t eaten carbs in the last month…all to fit in a f–king dress? So wrong. So f—-d on 100s of levels.”

“To openly admit to starving yourself for the sake of the Met Gala. When you know very well that millions of young men and women are looking up to you and listening to your every word. The ignorance is other-worldly disgusting,”

“Please stop supporting these stupid, harmful celebrities whose entire image revolves around their bodies. I am not generally an angry person but I swear to god, the toxicity of this industry sometimes really gets to me and I have to do my little Instagram-story rants to release my rage,” she said.
