Lady Gaga Is Not Here For Her Role In ‘House Of Gucci’ Being Criticised

Nope, she's not having a bar of it - even if the comments are coming from Patrizia Reggiani herself.

Patiently awaiting the release of House of Gucci? Yep, me too. For plenty of reasons. The film is set to be released on November 26th, so the countdown is well and truly on.

But as it turns out, the upcoming Gucci biopic is facing some criticism already – or more so Lady Gaga is for her role as Patrizia Gucci. But the critical comments aren’t coming from just anyone, but Patrizia Gucci herself.

It all began back in March of this year, when Patrizia (who now goes by Patrizia Reggiani) criticised Lady Gaga during an interview with the Italian website ANSA.

“I am rather annoyed at the fact that Lady Gaga is playing me in the new Ridley Scott film without having had the consideration and sensibility to come and meet me.”

Before adding: “It is not an economic question. I won’t get a cent from the film. It is a question of good sense and respect.”

Well now, a whole six months later Lady Gaga has responded to these comments explaining that she didn’t want her interpretation of the role influenced by others, even the person she’s playing in the film.

“I only felt that I could truly do this story justice if I approached it with the eye of a curious woman who was interested in possessing a journalistic spirit so that I could read between the lines of what was happening in the film’s scenes,” she explained to Vogue.

“Meaning that nobody was going to tell me who Patrizia Gucci was. Not even Patrizia Gucci.”

The movie, which is a tragic, true-crime flick, follows husband and wife, Maurizio Gucci (Adam Driver) and Patrizia Reggiani (Lady Gaga) as they turn victim and murder a couple of years following their split. It turns out that Patrizia Reggiani organised a hitman to kill her 46-year-old ex-husband and Gucci heir in his Milan office, giving her the nickname the ‘Black Widow’.

In the 90s the trial was a media spectacle, full of surprising twists and turns that apparently nobody saw coming.

Having been sentenced to 29 years in prison, Patrizia Reggiani was released from jail in 2014 and apparently, still had no remorse towards the husband who she organised to be murdered.

Apparently, at the time when she was leaving jail, a reporter asked Patrizia why she didn’t kill him herself to which she responded: “My eyesight is not so good. I didn’t want to miss,” wild – we know. You can read that report here.

The House of Gucci will be released in cinemas on November 26th.
