If you didn’t manage to watch The Sopranos was it was in its prime, chances are you got the chance to binge it throughout one of the lockdowns. Either way, you’d be forgiven for not noticing that Lady Gaga made an appearance in the hit show.

Lady Gaga’s acting career has gone from strength to strength over the past few years, so it’s surprising that she began acting before she even become known as Lady Gaga – back when she went by her own name, Stefani Germanotta.

In 2001, she appeared in season three (episode 9, to be exact) of The Sopranos as ‘Girl at Swimming Pool #2’. Not exactly an iconic role, but she was there nonetheless.

The scene in question is where Tony and Carmela’s son, AJ, and his friends break into their school and basically cause havoc.

Although it turns out Lady Gaga does have some regrets over this role in particular. Speaking on Entertainment Weekly’s Awardist podcast, she revealed, “When I look back on that scene, I can see exactly what I did wrong in that scene. I didn’t know how to listen in a scene! I was supposed to laugh, and it was sort of like, cue, laugh… I see it and I go, ‘Oh, that’s not a real laugh!'”

She went on to add that she’s since “grown a lot as an actor.”

Referencing her latest role as Patrizia Reggiani in House of Gucci, she continued, “The nuance and being specific as an actor is something that can grow over time if you’re willing to listen and really hear the other actor that you’re working with.”

Before adding: “I see a very non-specific actor [on The Sopranos], and now I see myself as someone who is at least really striving to be specific without thinking about it, and that requires a lot of work ahead of time.”

Well, there you have it.
