Iconic singer and actress Jane Birkin, has tragically passed away aged 76 at her home in Paris.

The British-born star had cancelled many concerts in recent years as she struggled with health complications following a stroke in 2021.

She was recognised for her roles in 1976’s Je t’aime moi non plus, 1978’s Death on the Nile and 1982’s Evil Under the Sun. As well as her music career, which included the hit Je t’aime… moi non plus, which inspired the 1976 film of the same name.

Jane was also held in high esteem by the fashion community, being known for her wicker-basket bags, and going on to serve as the inspiration for the Hermès’ Birkin bag.

The star was also appreciated for her philanthropy worked with Amnesty International on immigrant welfare and the AIDS epidemic. While during the 2020 lockdown she offered support to women experiencing domestic violence.

She is survived by her children Kate Barry, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Lou Doillon.

Many have taken to social media to say goodbye to the legend.

Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time.
