Lisa Kudrow Has Revealed She’s Never Seen An Episode Of Friends

She may be the only person in the world who hasn't...

It wouldn’t be the show we know and love so much without Lisa Kudrow’s character Phoebe.

The iconic kooky massage therapist/musician was arguably the most interesting of the six. Everything from Phoebe’s horrific childhood, to being an ‘outsider’ among the group made her stand out.

So it’s hard to believe that the actress really struggled with the part.

The star was speaking Kevin Nealon for his YouTube web series Hiking With Kevinwhen she revealed that she found it difficult.

“I had played dumb girls, sure. But it wasn’t really me,” she said.

The character is known to be totally different to Lisa in real life, and this was something she had to put a lot of work into.

“I feel like s**t, I tricked them. At the audition, I was the only one who could cope with the audition process and that’s how I got it, I think. So I had to work hard at being Phoebe, you know.”

Friends

She added that her co-star Matt Leblanc, who played Joey helped to through it.

“And then like third season in, I was struggling so much,” she said. “And Leblanc was like, ‘What’s going on with you?’ And I said, ‘I can’t, I don’t think I have it, I mean, I… I don’t know what I’m doing.’

“And he went, ‘You’re her, relax, you got it. You’ve been doing this f**king character for three years. You’re working too hard. That’s your problem. You don’t need to work this hard. Relax.’ He was right.”

That’s honestly something we feel Joey would say to Phoebe, so it’s nice to know that part was legit. The actress also revealed that she’s never seen an episode of Friends.

We’re not saying she should sit down with the box set, or have it on Netflix on loop, but HOW has she managed to avoid it?

“I haven’t seen the show,” she revealed. “I should…I hear it’s good.”

Even though it’s been twenty-five years since the show first aired, fans are constantly holding out hope for a reunion or a movie. And although Lisa said she’d be up for it, she’s convinced it’s never going to happen.

“If everyone one else was doing it, I would do it, yeah. But it’s not going happening. I mean I’ve heard [creators] Marta Kauffman and David Crane both say on panel discussing that it’s never ever, never ever going to happen,” she said.

“I think it’s they’re true feelings, they’re too comfortable and they’ve got other things that they’re doing, they don’t need to.”
