Love Island’s Jack Fowler Shares Scary Health Battle Which Left Him In A Wheelchair
“On my Instagram I was having a wicked time, I was having a great time,”
Love Island heartthrob Jack Fowler has opened up about a recent health scare that left him in a wheelchair or a number of weeks.
Sharing the scary story on his Instagram, Jack posted a picture of himself enjoying a trip to Greece, while explaining that the beginning of the year didn’t start off well for him.
“2020. What a year so far. Meningitis & transverse myelitis nearly wiped me out at the beginning, but feeling very blessed to be out here chasing the Sun.”

Speaking about his battle with meningitis and transverse myelitis last month, Jack told Oxford Union that his health declined so much that he was left using a wheelchair for a number of weeks, unsure if he would ever recover fully.
“Instagram, social media is absolutely fake. At the start of this year, no one knows this, I had something called transverse myelitis,” he said.
“I lost all movement in my legs and my left arm, paralysed, I was in a wheelchair for two or three weeks”
While meningitis is an inflammation of the membrane surrounding your brain and spinal cord, traverse myelitis is rare neurological disorder that causes inflammation of one or both sides of the spinal cord.

Admitting that what you see on social media doesn’t reflect real life, Jack went on to say:
“On my Instagram I was having a wicked time, I was having a great time,”
“I was in Dubai, I was in Thailand for all of the two weeks because that’s the ’gram making it look like that.”
“But realistically, I wasn’t — I was going through the hardest time of my life.”

Jack is now thankfully feeling back to himself having made a full recovery from his illness. He’s currently enjoying a getaway with his girlfriend Joanne Baban Morales, who he went insta offish with earlier this year.
