Matty Healy played at Finsbury Park, London, to a crowd of 45,000 people last week – and it was an intense show, to say the least.

The lead of The 1975 smoked, drank wine, and once again made a show of eating raw meat at the end of his set. At other times during the performance, including when he brought his father up on stage for a duet, Matty got visibly tearful.

Reflecting on his support system, the Chocolate singer shouted out Lewis Capaldi, sending his “sincere thoughts to Lewis…who is a good friend of mine”.

“Who on the day when he had to cancel his tour, checked in on me. And it’s also a reflection on how hard being a solo artist is as I would not be doing this show if I didn’t have these amazing men and women behind me.”

Matty also got emotional while addressing past controversies.  He shared regret at comments he’s made, saying “there’s a lot of things I’ve said, jokes that I’ve made, you know what, there’s probably a couple of f***ing songs I’d take back if I had the chance.”

He went on to say that all he wants his music to do is “make you guys laugh and feel good. That’s what my favourite art does and that’s what I’m trying to do.”

Well, Matty, you may want to cut out the raw meat – but the sentiment is lovely.
