Maura Higgins Might Be The Next Love Island Host
She would be perfect!
It looks like Love Island could be due for a revamp soon and Maura Higgins is reportedly one of the names in the mix for the role of host.
According to The Sun, the bosses at Love Island are looking at giving the show a makeover for next summer and reportedly want Maura Higgins or Maya Jama to present it.
A source told the Sun, “Producers are keen to keep the show fresh and are keeping their options open. They have been impressed with both Maya and Maura, and think either could bring the necessary pizzazz and sexiness to the role.
“They want someone who is fun and can connect with people. Maura has obviously taken part in the show herself and knows it inside out so could easily relate to contestants and what they are going through.
“It’s one of the best gigs in showbiz, with a plum six-figure salary and frequent trips to sunny Majorca, so there are plenty of people hungry for the role.”
Maura was a contestant on the show in 2019 and gained a large following from viewers because of her straight-to-the-point attitude and hilarious one-liners. “Fanny Flutters?” Yeah, that was Maura.
The source also said that contracts for the show are renegotiated every year and they are still happy with Laura Whitmore so there’s been no confirmation of a swap yet.
A spokesman for ITV told The Sun, “Laura has done a fantastic job at the helm of the show this year and no discussions have yet taken place with regard to the next series.”
Laura has presented the show for the last two series after taking over from Caroline Flack who tragically passed away in 2020.
We love Laura on the show, but Maura would also be amazing and full of sass, maybe we’ll see them co-hosting… Two Irish gals representing on the biggest show on telly? We’d love to see it!
