Maura Higgins Shares Her Own Struggles On World Mental Health Day
"We all have bad days/nights but we always tend to share the best on social media."
Yesterday was World Mental Health Day and many celebrities and influencers shared messages of support on their social media accounts.
Longford lass, Maura Higgins shared a heartfelt post about the importance of looking after your mental health on her Instagram, revealing that her own mental health has suffered before.
“It is so important to do whatever it takes to make YOU feel better. We all have bad days/nights but we always tend to share the best on social media.”
“You don’t see the tears, stress, anxiety, grief etc anyone of us go through on a day to day basis so that’s why I stress BE KIND!”

She posted this message alongside lots of pictures, showing that her life isn’t all glitz and glam, and that she has her off days too.
Maura continued; “I want you to remember it’s completely normal to have bad days. It’s okay to feel sad for no reason, it’s okay to cry but it’s not ok to suffer in silence!”
“I myself suffered with my mental health and the best thing I done was pick up my phone and talk, even if it’s just to a friend, it is so so important to speak out! It can be the most isolating feeling in the world, but the more we talk about it the more we will see that no one is alone!”
“Swipe to see just the real me & remember WE ARE ALL HUMAN & we are all in this together. Be strong…I love you all.”

Earlier this month Maura revealed she had been the victim of trolling and abuse online, most recently receiving a DM that said she was “very ugly.”
Highlighting that the mean comment came in response to a video where the Islander was showcasing her natural look, with no makeup or tan. The Longford native was simply getting her hair done by stylist Emily Rose Monk when one troll fired shots at her.
“You are actually very ugly! Not only from outside but on inside,” the message started.

Continuing, they added: “When you meet people show some gratitude. Only because of people like you are where you are. Without us you would be non existent.”
Sharing the harsh words, but blurring the user’s name, Maura revealed that she received the message from a female and sarcastically noted that she loves to see “women supporting women”.
Continuing, Maura wrote: “No one asked for your opinion.”
