Mel B Shares Emotional Message About Domestic Violence Following Nicole Kidman’s Powerful Emmys Speech

"We are not alone. Remember that."

At last night’s Emmy Awards, Nicole Kidman was awarded the ‘Best Actress’ prize for her role in Big Little Lies, in which she plays the victim of domestic violence.

In her acceptance speech, she said, “Sometimes when you’re acting, you get a chance to bring a bigger message. We shone a light on domestic abuse. It’s a complicated, insidious disease that exists far more than we allow ourselves to know.

“It is filled with shame, secrecy and, by you acknowledging me with this award, it shines a light on it even more.”

Nicole’s powerful words struck a chord with America’s Got Talent judge, Mel B, who recently split from her husband, Stephen Belafonte, citing domestic violence and cheating.

Taking to Instagram, she wrote, “We are not alone remember that, ‘the light is shined’ again thanks to @nicolekidman at the [Emmys] and always has been.

She continued, “So please trust and believe, you don’t have to be a victim no more, you do have the power and support to stand up to this, leave all your shame and pain with your abuser – if not the ‘Diablo’ WILL kill you.”

Earlier this year, Mel was granted a restraining order from her ex after claiming he made her feel overcome with “emotional and physical exhaustion,” adding that she and her children “feared for their lives.”
