Netflix Releases First Look At Paul Mescal’s New Film Alongside Olivia Coleman

The first pictures of the upcoming movie The Lost Daughter were released by Netflix this week and we are very excited.

The film is Maggie Gyllenhaal’s directorial debut and has an all-star cast including Paul Mescal, Olivia Coleman, Jessie Buckley, Dakota Johnson and Peter Sarsgaard.

It is a re-work of the novel by Elena Ferrante and follows a professor (Coleman) who spends her summer vacation on the beach where she becomes obsessed with a young mother (Johnson) she see’s playing with her daughter. While she becomes engulfed in this woman’s life, she begins to remember her own troubled past.

Ohh that sounds interesting.

Paul Mescal will play a character named Will, although we are not yet aware of what role his character plays in the story, we do know he has scenes with Olivia Coleman which is very cool.

The film is set to be released in the US in December of this year, so fingers crossed Ireland will get a release date soon!

Paul has had a very successful year after the release of Normal People in 2020. He has also landed a role in an upcoming Irish thriller.

Starring alongside ‘The Crown’ actor Tom Burke, the new Irish thriller entitled Bring Them Down is based in the West of Ireland, following the story of an Irish shepherd who enters into a feud with his neighbour after his heard of sheep are mysteriously killed.

All of his new projects sound like they will be really successful!
