It seems a congratulations is in order, as it’s reported that Nicki Minaj just welcomed her first child with husband Kenneth ‘Zoo’ Petty.  According to a source who spoke to People, Nicki gave birth on September 30th, but she hasn’t said anything about it just yet.

We’re not exactly shocked that she hasn’t announced the news just yet, it’s probably not at the forefront of her mind, but she also waited months to share that she was expecting at all.

When Nicki first announced her pregnancy, she uploaded a series of photos to her Instagram, the first simply captioned, “#Preggers”, followed by a non captioned image of her holding her baby bump, and finally, another with the caption “Love. Marriage. Baby carriage. Overflowing with excitement & gratitude. Thank you all for the well wishes.”

While neither of the new parents mentioned their happy news on social media, Chance the Rapper wrote on Twitter, “CONGRATS TO NICKI!! YOUR STORY IS ONE OF THE GREATEST EVER TOLD! GOD BLESS THE CHILD.” Using all capitals to show his excitement, as you do.

In a previous interview from 2014, Nicki spoke to Complex about her dream to become a mother. “[My biggest fear] is that I’ll become so consumed with work that I’ll forget to live my personal life to the fullest,” she said. “If I’m done with my fifth album and I don’t have a child by then, no matter how much money I have, I would be disappointed, as a woman, because I feel like I was put here to be a mother.”

Then just last year, she announced she was retiring to start a family, tweeting, “I’ve decided to retire & have my family. I know you guys are happy now,” she wrote. “To my fans, keep reppin me, do it til da death of me … Love you for LIFE.”

Well, we know she didn’t exactly retire, but she has started her own family all the same. Congrats!
