It’s A Sin captured the hearts of audiences everywhere, and to be honest, it was one of the best TV shows I’ve watched in a while. In the way that left me bawling my eyes out, curled up in a heaving ball.

Russell T Davies’ five-part mini-series portrayed LGBTQ+ history, and the UK’s HIV and AIDS crisis of the 1980s in an honest, educational and heartbreaking way. So it wasn’t surprising that people wanted more than just five episodes.

There was a lot of excitement when the news broke that there was originally supposed to be more than the original five episodes, did it mean we’re were being treated to another season? The episodes in question were to include a time hop, and show what life would have been for Jill in a few years time. Check out more on that here.

But despite the success of the show, Davies has revealed that It’s A Sin was only ever meant to be a stand-alone series. Sob.

“There isn’t a second season,” he told The Hollywood Reporter.

“[Working on the show] was lovely. It said everything I wanted to say. The only long-running thing I’ve ever done is Doctor Who and that’s because Doctor Who is designed to be long-running.”

Speaking about what’s next for him, Davies continued, “I will start writing. I don’t know how I follow something like It’s a Sin. I look at my career and I’m a bit puzzled on when I became such a tragedian, when I’m a really big laugh actually.”

Well if he ever changes his mind, we’ll all be ready and waiting.
