Normal People’s Paul Mescal Has Raised €50k For Irish Charity

He's raffling off the infamous chain from the series.

Are you, like everyone else, totally thirsty for Connell’s chain in Normal People? This seemingly innocuous piece of jewellery has caused a frenzy up and down the country, even having it’s own Instagram account (that has 163k followers no less).

The star is raffling off his chain from the show in a bid to raise vital funds for Irish suicide prevention charity, Pieta House. So far he has raised over €50k, people clearly want the chain and they want it bad.

“I am delighted to be able to help Pieta by raffling off one of my own chains. Pieta is a cause very close to my heart, having experienced loss due to suicide in my local town while growing up,” he said.

“Episode 10 of Normal People also touches upon depression and suicidal ideation, so it seemed like a very special partnership to want to help those in similar situations.  I want to play my part in helping sustain these free services across Ireland.”

Pieta House provides free therapy to those engaging in self-harm, with suicidal ideation, or bereaved by suicide and following the cancellation of their biggest fundraiser, Darkness Into Light this year, any donations will be hugely beneficial.
