On Trial: Taylor Swift’s Testimony About Her Sexual Assault Is Brilliant And Everyone’s Applauding Her For It

"It's not about whether you like Taylor Swift... It's about supporting a woman having to publicly relive her sexual assault."

Taylor Swift accused a radio DJ of groping her bum during a meet’n’greet back in 2013, and the man is now suing her for $3 million because her accusation got him fired.

David Mueller insists that he simply put his arm around her, and that his hand was level with her ribs and “apparently it went down”. When asked if he had grabbed her bottom, he said, “No, I did not.”

But Taylor is standing up for herself, by countersuing him for just $1. Yesterday, the 27-year-old took to the stand to give her official testimony, and she’s being applauded for what she said.

News reporter, Claudia Rosenbaum, was in court at the time and live-tweeted the proceedings. According to her, Taylor said to Mueller’s lawyer, “I’m critical of your client sticking his hand under my skirt and grabbing my ass. He did not touch my rib, he did not touch my hand, he grabbed my bare ass.”

When asked if it could have been done by someone else, Taylor reportedly said, “He had a handful of my ass. I know it was him. I am not going to allow your my client to make me feel like it is anyway my fault because it isn’t.” Then, when asked if she could see the incident directly, Taylor said she couldn’t see exactly because her “ass in the back of her body”.

Celebrities and fans alike have been commending her courage and bravery, with Lena Dunham saying, “Proud of Taylor Swift for her fierce and cutting testimony & her refusal to settle for being treated like property. Her example is powerful.”

Others added, “It’s not about whether you like Taylor Swift or not. It’s about supporting a young woman having to publicly relive her sexual assault’, and, “What Taylor Swift is doing is brave. Thank you for standing up for women everywhere.”
