Oscar Nominated Director Jean-Marc Vallée has passed away aged 58

Jean-Marc Vallée, who has directed hits such as Dallas Buyers Club and Big Little Lies has passed away at the age of 58.

Although you may not recognise his name straight away, there’s no doubt his work is familiar to you, with award winning productions and big name casts, Jean-Marc has directed some extremely impactful pieces.

The Canadian director died suddenly in his cabin outside Quebec City in Canada, there is no known cause of death yet.

Jean-Marc has worked with Matthew McConaughey, Meryl Streep and Reese Witherspoon to name a few famous faces. He was nominated for an Oscar for his work on Dallas Buyers Club, and won multiple Emmy’s for his work on Big Little Lies.

His producing partner, Nathan Ross, released a statement after his death writing, “Jean-Marc stood for creativity, authenticity and trying things differently. He was a true artist and a generous, loving guy.

“Everyone who worked with him couldn’t help but see the talent and vision he possessed. He was a friend, creative partner and an older brother to me. The maestro will sorely be missed but it comforts knowing his beautiful style and impactful work he shared with the world will live on.”
