Paul Mescal & Andrew Scott Nab First Nominations For All Of Us Strangers
Cannot wait for this, tbh
Award season is tiptoeing nearer and nearer – and it looks like the Irish contingency will be strong once more!
Honestly we couldn’t be more delighted.
Paul Mescal and Andrew Scott have already nabbed their first nominations of the season, with both of them being noted for their gorgeous film All of Us Strangers.
The film has been nominated in several categories in the British Independent Film Awards.
This includes Andrew being nominated in the Best Lead Performance category, while Paul is nominated for Best Supporting Performance.
We couldn’t be more proud!
The film in total has received 14 nominations including Best British Independent Film.
All of Us Strangers is a loose adaption of Taichi Yamada’s 1987 novel, Strangers.
Andrew plays Adam, a writer, who is looking back at his past while Paul plays his enigmatic lover, Harry. While Adam starts to delve into his past and his relationship with his parents he is able to travel back to a time when his parents are alive.
“One night in his near-empty tower block in contemporary London, Adam (Andrew Scott) has a chance encounter with a mysterious neighbour Harry (Paul Mescal), which punctures the rhythm of his everyday life,” the official synopsis for the film reads.
“As a relationship develops between them, Adam is preoccupied with memories of the past and finds himself drawn back to the suburban town where he grew up, and the childhood home where his parents (Claire Foy and Jamie Bell), appear to be living, just as they were on the day they died, 30 years before.”
While the original story takes place in Tokyo during the 1980s, Andrew Haigh’s adaptation is set in modern London. And it sounds like both Andrew and Paul are trying out their English accents for the roles.
To say we’re excited for this is an understatement.
