People Are Convinced That Art Attack’s Neil Buchanan Is Banksy

We're relying heavily on this to get us through the rest of 2020

In the latest installment that is the wild series called 2020, people are now fully convinced that Neil Buchanan, you know, that fella from Art Attack, is the anonymous street artist, Banksy.

The conspiracy theory has become so rife on social media in recent weeks, that Neil himself has been forced to comment on the matter, letting us all know that no actually, he isn’t Banksy.

Releasing a statement on his Website this week, Neil and his team said:

Neil Buchanan is NOT Banksy

“We have been inundated with inquiries over the weekend regarding the current social media story. Unfortunately, this website does not have the infrastructure to answer all these enquiries individually, however, we can confirm that there is no truth in the rumour whatsoever,” it continued.

Going on to explain in absence from the art scene in recent months, the statement read:

“Neil spent Lockdown with vulnerable members of his family and is now preparing to launch his new art collection in 2021. Thank you and please stay safe.”

Fair enough. But what has got people so convinced that the children’s TV star is in fact Banksy?

Well, the recent theory came about when an account posed the feasible notion that the two were linked, pointing out that Banksy artwork popped up in cities where Neil’s former band Marseille had been playing around the same time.

But look, we get it, Neil isn’t Banksy, much to our dismay. But, if PVA glue and old toilet rolls start to appear in any of Banky’s next works, we know exactly where to look.

Below are some of our favourite Neil X Banksy tweets to brighten up your day.
